Back Soon.

I have just returned to Hubbard’s Beach after sailing onboard the Bluenose II in Lunenburg today. What a great day and a great trip this has been. Some good shooting opportunities and some missed ones. The Puffins are not around at this time of the year, the Moose have eluded us and the trees will not be red until the first or second week in October. So we will be returning to Cape Breton next October for the Fall Colours Festival. I will be returning to Vancouver tomorrow and look forward to se… Continue

*New Welcome Message from the President.

Welcome to the Delta Photo Club,

I would like to personally welcome everyone to the Delta Photo Club and the Delta Photo Club Website. Last year we saw the club move into newer and better facilities and we also saw the club grow in both membership and photography skills. We also launched this Website which has proven to be a success with over 60+ members now registered on the site and also a great way for members to share photos within a community and in a non-competitive way.

The Delta Photo Club is an established club with many excellent photographers including the 2008/2009 BC Photographer of the year, Greg Schurman. This great collection of talent is an invaluable resource to other members and especially to new members and beginning photographers alike.

The Club meets every Wednesday evening starting in September and continues to meet until May for the summer break. The club is very active socially within the club with outings and trips and also very active within the BC and Canadian Photography Communities.

Regular meetings include Print Image Nights, Projected Image Nights, Guest Speakers, Instructional Evenings and Judged Competition Evenings. These meetings are rather informal and have scheduled coffee/tea breaks. These breaks provide a great opportunity for personal introductions, general socializing and to ask other members and guests questions that can help you with your photographic aspirations.

In my first year with the Delta Photo Club I met many wonderful Members, Guest Speakers and other members of the Canadian Photographic community including members of the Canadian Association for Photographic Art (CAPA). I have taken the CAPA Judging Course and helped Judge several competitions including a Canadian CAPA event.

Most importantly however, has been the wealth of information, tips and techniques that I have learned from club meetings, outings and other members. This has made me become a better photographer which was why I joined the Delta Photo Club in the first place. Task accomplished.

I have since been elected as President of the club and I would like to personally invite all current members back for another great season of club evenings and events and would like to extend an invitation to any other photographers including beginners to come and check us out. Check the schedule on this site and drop in one evening. We invite members from anywhere in the Lower Mainland.

As President of the club I also would like everyone to pass along any comments or suggestions regarding the Club and its activities so that we may continue to make the club even more successful than it already is.

Unfortunately I will be away the first few weeks of September shooting in Nova Scotia and will not have the chance to greet returning and new members but I do look forward to meeting everyone when I return. I will leave the first few meetings in last year’s President and very capable Wayne Wilton.

Until then I wish you all a very successful Fall Photographic Season.
